22nd July 2010

Results of the match between The Vic and Toddington CC posted and league table updated. Also, last weekend's game between Toddington CC and the Road Runners was forfeited by Toddington - points awarded to the Road Runners.

Some players from The Plough Inn were also fortunate enough to be invited to take place in a friendly match held in the grounds of Chiswick House on Sunday 18th July. A picturesque setting, wonderful weather and a good game all resulted in a fabulous outing - we hope to play host to the other teams in a return match before the end of the season. Special thanks go to Tim Powell-Harper from Matthews and Son for the invitation and to Gareth Dixon from Rainmaker for making the arrangements (and supplying the beer and sandwiches!). Some pictures from the day to be uploaded in due course.

Well the 10/10 competition and a league match have both taken place since the last update. The 10/10 was a success again, albeit curtailed due to rain meaning that the final could not be played! In a fine example of sportsmanship the captains of the finalists decided to share honours this year - so congratlations to Road Runners and Toddington. Full details and photos to follow.

Also, the match betwen Road Runners and The Vic was played last Sunday - with 375 runs being scored between the teams. The 218 scored by Road Runners is amongst the highest seen in our league and a fifty for Jamie must be mentioned. The Vics spirited reply showed grit but it was always a tall order. Match details put up and league table updated.

4th May 2010

At last the changes to the navigation have been rolled out across the site, with many new pages being added. A lot of these are short on content at the moment and I shall be adding back in the history over the next week or two.

As a result I have now been able to put up the result of the first game between the Plough and Road Runners and updated this year's league table.

Finally, a reminder that Chalgrave Sports Club is running a quiz night this coming Friday, 7th May. Tickets are available behind the bar at The Plough Inn, Wingfield or by contacting nev@chalgravesportsclub.co.uk

Okay - got the navigation system in place on the home page - just rolling it out across the site. Lots of the links (especially to new content) won't work yet but I've broken the back of it...

24th April 2010

Well the first match of the season has taken place (go Plough!) - and the St. George's Day quiz hasn't! We have had to postpone the quiz night for a couple of weeks - so it's now rescheduled to take place on Friday 7th May 2010. Same details as previously. I'll be putting up lots more content over the next few days - restoring a lot of the old history of the Friendly League and making some improvements to improve access to the most popular pages. And, of course, putting up the full details of last weekend's game. Bear with me ...

The working party that happened last Sunday (11th) was very successful. Clubhouse is in as good a condition as it can be(!) and the maintenence of equipment has been completed and the ground is looking great, despite the recent wet weather. So, i would like to thank the following for all their help and support:

Matt Bailey & John Stokes for sorting out the boundary fencing and the Nets.

Nicola Wells for the shopping

Robert Upchurch for the generous use of 3 month old JCB, which was fun!

Apologies to Mike for introducing him to the delicate art of removing 20ft of tightly wound chicken wire from the prop shaft of a JCB!
